The President of the Republic meets with representatives of civil society associations and organizations

The involvement of civil society associations and organizations in the dialogue process is a key factor in its success, based on the important role played by these organizations in consolidating democracy and promoting peaceful coexistence. A role confirmed by the Chairman of the Transitional Military Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, during his meeting with representatives of civil society associations and organizations as part of his series of meetings with the living forces in preparation for the twenty-August 2022, the date of the comprehensive national dialogue. The President of the Republic reported on the directive and awareness-raising work carried out by civil society organizations on a daily basis, contributing to enhancing transparency in managing public affairs, raising people’s awareness of their rights, and training them on responsible and effective citizenship.

He said that it is in everyone’s interest for civil society associations and organizations to be effective, stressing that the Transitional Military Council will work day and night to hold the comprehensive national dialogue, which is a historic date for the Chadian people.

The meeting witnessed the intervention of a number of representatives of civil society associations and organizations, who praised this initiative and the efforts of the Transitional Military Council in leading the country towards safety.

Representatives of civil society associations and organizations also made a number of demands, including fair representation of the various components of youth, women, people with special needs and others, in order to achieve the comprehensiveness and sovereignty of the comprehensive national dialogue sessions.

Commenting on these demands, the President of the Transitional Military Council, President of the Republic, Head of State, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, confirmed the legitimacy of these demands, which will be taken into account, expressing his hope for the participation of civil society associations and organizations, along with other components, in order to hold a comprehensive national dialogue and lead a successful transitional period.
