Abuja: The Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association (DEPOWA) has called on the wives of soldiers to find a balance between their roles as parents, entrepreneurs, and individuals focused on personal well-being to enhance the strength of their families and communities. According to News Agency of Nigeria, DEPOWA President Mrs. Oghogho Musa delivered this message during a personal development training session for members of the Defence Non-Commissioned Officers' Wives Association (DENCOWA) in Abuja. The training, themed 'Balancing Intentional Parenting, Entrepreneurship, and Personal Well-Being,' highlighted the everyday challenges faced by women as they navigate their duties as wives, mothers, and businesswomen. Musa stated that genuine empowerment starts within the family and extends its reach to business, community, and the nation. She stressed that empowering non-commissioned officers' wives not only fortifies their families but also uplifts the entire Armed Forces community. She quoted the saying, 'If you educate a woman, you educate a nation,' and added that empowering a soldier's wife strengthens national security. The DEPOWA president emphasized that self-care is vital for effective parenting and entrepreneurship, dispelling the notion that it is selfish. She praised the facilitators of the program and encouraged participants to apply the lessons learned to benefit their families and communities. The initiative was born from the recognition that a gap exists between parenting and entrepreneurship among women living in military barracks. Mrs. Nancy Ezia, President of DENCOWA, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Musa for addressing the needs of soldiers' wives. She voiced optimism that the training would inspire those without businesses to start one and help existing entrepreneurs expand their ventures. Ezia highlighted the excitement and fulfillment among participants, underscoring the training's impact and intelligence. The training featured presentations on topics such as Personal Well-being for Purpose ful Living, Entrepreneurship Development for Economic Empowerment, and Intentional Parenting.
