Premier League Stars Shine and Struggle on International Duty

London: The recent international break saw players from all 20 Premier League clubs representing their countries, with a total of 59 nations benefiting from the top-tier talent. From scoring debut goals to sustaining injuries, the international duty brought mixed fortunes for the players.

According to BBC, Norway's Martin Odegaard was a standout performer, scoring once and assisting twice in an emphatic 11-1 victory over Moldova. Aston Villa's Matty Cash also impressed, scoring a late equaliser against the Netherlands and netting again in a 3-1 win over Finland, although he was forced off with an injury at halftime, which fortunately appears to be minor.

Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo couldn't replicate his Premier League form with Ghana but was praised by coach Otto Addo for his efforts in attack. Brentford's Dango Ouattara and Mikkel Damsgaard each found the net for Burkina Faso and Denmark, respectively, while Jordan Henderson saw limited action for England.

Brighton's Yakuba Minteh scored for Gambia, and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen played both of the Netherlands' qualifiers. Manchester City's Erling Haaland had a prolific outing for Norway, scoring five goals and assisting twice. However, teammate Omar Marmoush of Egypt suffered a knee injury, ruling him out of the upcoming Manchester derby.

Manchester United's Benjamin Sesko played extensively for Slovenia, while Newcastle's Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga found the net for DR Congo and Sweden. Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood scored for New Zealand, and Serbia's Nikola Milenkovic faced a red card against England.

Tottenham's Pape Sarr scored a last-minute winner for Senegal, and Djed Spence made history as the first Muslim to play for England's senior men's team. West Ham's Lucas Paqueta continued his scoring streak with Brazil, while Tomas Soucek saw surprisingly limited action for the Czech Republic.

The international break provided a platform for Premier League players to showcase their skills, though not without its challenges and setbacks. As clubs prepare for the return to domestic action, the spotlight remains on these players and their fitness levels post-duty.
