Ibadan: The police command in Oyo State has successfully rescued an Egyptian national who was kidnapped in the early hours of September 8 in Ibadan. The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, CSP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the rescue of the victim in a statement on Tuesday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Egyptian was abducted in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan. Osifeso highlighted that the rescue operation, which did not involve the payment of any ransom, demonstrated the exceptional and dedicated efforts of the police officers as well as effective inter-agency collaboration.

Osifeso attributed the success of the operation to the directive and coordinated rescue initiative led by the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna. Through careful planning, intelligence analysis, and a swift response, the combined teams were able to locate the kidnapped individual after an extensive search of the forests and border areas between Ogun and Oyo states. The operation resulted in the safe return of the victim without any exchange of ransom.

The victim will undergo necessary medical checks at the Police Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan, before being reunited with his family. Osifeso urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police through emergency contacts. He emphasized that ensuring public safety remains the command's utmost priority and reassured the commitment of the police to maintaining peace in Oyo State.
