Wike Promises Infrastructure in Wassa for Relocation of Apo Mechanics

Abuja: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has committed to providing essential infrastructure in the Wassa District to aid in relocating the Apo Mechanics traders and dealers to the area. This announcement was made in Abuja during the inauguration of a committee dedicated to facilitating the traders' and dealers' move to their permanent site in Wassa District.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Wike will chair the committee, which includes the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Director of Development Control, Director of Land, and Director of Urban and Regional Planning. Additional members comprise the Director of Survey and Director of Resettlement and Compensation.

Mr. Wike highlighted that previous administrations had pledged to relocate the traders and dealers from a section of the Outer Southern Expressway corridor to Wassa but had not fulfilled these promises. He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu's administration had assured the relocation and had already initiated the necessary processes to make this promise a reality.

Wike stated, "It's been promise on promise since 2011 without fulfillment, but Tinubu has promised, and the process has begun." He mentioned that on June 27, a visit to Wassa with the leaders of Apo Mechanics would take place to assess the permanent site and determine the critical infrastructure needed to facilitate the relocation. He stressed that this collective effort aims to ensure the fulfillment of President Tinubu's promise.

The minister further advised the traders and dealers to avoid internal conflicts, emphasizing that unity would lead to greater achievements. He reiterated that one of the government's roles is to ensure the happiness of the people and assured that the FCT Administration would do everything possible to make the Apo traders and dealers content.
