KWASU Secures NUC Re-Accreditation for All Undergraduate Programmes

Ilorin: The National Universities Commission (NUC) has re-accredited all 25 undergraduate programmes offered by Kwara State University (KWASU). KWASU's Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, confirmed this development, highlighting the university's continued commitment to academic excellence.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the accreditation process was conducted during the October-November 2024 round of academic programme evaluations. The results, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, were dated April 30 and signed by the NUC's Acting Director of Accreditation, Mr. Abraham Chundusu.

Dr. Aliyu detailed that 21 programmes received full accreditation, valid for five years, including Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, and Food Engineering. Other fully accredited programmes include Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, and Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, along with several education disciplines such as Special Education and French Education.

However, four programmes, namely French, Mathematics Education, English Education, and Yoruba Education, were granted interim accreditation, which lasts for two years. Dr. Aliyu explained that these programmes will be reviewed again by the NUC after the interim period.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shaykh-Luqman commended the university staff for their successful presentation of programmes for re-accreditation. He reaffirmed KWASU's dedication to academic, research, and community development, encouraging staff to continue striving for excellence.
