Helsinki - Finland on Saturday reaffirmed its "strong commitment" to the strategic partnership between the European Union (EU) and Morocco. Expressing the country's support for the joint statement issued by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative Josep Borrell on the European Court of Justice's (ECJ) ruling on the fisheries and agricultural agreements between the EU and the Kingdom, the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated on its X account the Nordic country's "strong commitment" to the "strategic partnership between the EU and Morocco." In their joint statement, the President of the European Commission and the High Representative of the EU reaffirmed the European bloc's commitment to maintaining and strengthening close relations with Morocco in all fields, in accordance with the principle of pacta sunt servanda. This joint declaration, a rare political act that underlines the importance of Morocco and materializes the significance of the EU's partnership wit h the Kingdom, reiterates the "high value" the EU attaches to "its long-standing, wide-ranging and deep" strategic partnership with Morocco.
