Marrakech - Morocco plays a key role in securing major sporting events worldwide, Lerina Bright, Executive Director of an international organization in research, education and advocacy against the exploitation of young athletes, said on Thursday in Marrakech. In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of an international two-day workshop on the security of major events, held by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in coordination with Interpol through the Stadia project, Bright stressed that several pioneering initiatives were launched from Morocco, such as this meeting attended by experts and specialists from around the globe. She also highlighted the MENA region's role and contribution to promoting international sports by hosting such large scale events, recalling, in this respect, that Morocco is preparing to host major events, including the 2025 AFCON and the 2030 World Cup, with Spain and Portugal. Bright also highlighted the quality of the exchanges and fruitful discussions that marked t he workshop, and praised the high level of organization and warm welcome extended to participants at this important meeting.
