Rabat - Morocco is now positioning itself as a leader on the African continent in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), thanks to the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI, Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Morocco, Aimee Cutrona, said on Monday in Rabat. Speaking on the occasion of the High-Level Forum on Artificial Intelligence, Cutrona stressed that this event, which joins the 'Gitex Africa Morocco' trade fair held last week in Marrakech, testifies to Morocco's place as a leader on its continent, particularly in terms of accelerating innovations and the latest developments in AI. Recalling the long-standing relations between the Kingdom and the United States, the diplomat expressed her country's pride in its collaboration with Morocco in the field of AI. In this respect, she highlighted the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the first UN resolution on AI, initially co-sponsored by Morocco and the United States, which thus reflects the strength of the multi-dimensional strategic and historical partnership between Rabat and Washington, reiterating the determination of the United States to work closely with the Kingdom in this field. Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the High-Level Forum on Artificial Intelligence is initiated by the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) through its Moroccan International Center for Artificial Intelligence 'AI Movement', in partnership with UNESCO. This three-day international event brings together representatives from over 30 countries, including some 15 African countries, with the aim of laying the groundwork for an African strategy dedicated to AI.
