TUC and PENGASSAN Lead Protest Over Unpaid Entitlements

Abuja: The Secretary of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nuhu Toro, has urged the Federal Government to settle all outstanding union entitlements that have been pending since February. The call for action took place during a peaceful protest organized by various union members at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the unions involved in the protest include the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the Construction Workers Association, and the Kaduna Zonal Council of PENGASSAN, among others. Toro expressed concern that the minister had not yet addressed their files and also highlighted issues related to the naira's value and purchasing power.

In response, the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mr. Raymond Omachi, stated that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, had approved the requests made by the unions. He assured the protesters that their concerns would be resolved within 48 hours.
