Guelmim - The wise guidelines contained in the speech addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the nation on the Throne Day have established a proactive and innovative approach to sustainable management of water scarcity, said Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Guelmim, BoujemaS Boutoumite. Boutoumite, a researcher in water resources, told MAP that the Royal speech calls for adopting an effective water policy that will overcome the repercussions of several successive drought years and scarce rainfall, which have contributed to drastically reducing dams' filling rates. He stressed that HM the King stressed the importance of raising awareness about the importance of water conservation, as it is a key indicator of development, urging all stakeholders to bring new mechanisms and more effective solutions to address water scarcity. The academic noted that the Throne Day speech set out the contours of an innovative water policy to address the shortage of water reserves, which requires paying speci al attention to the appropriate implementation of projects that will solve the problem of the scarcity of water resources.
