The provincial coordination of the citizen watch of Séno organized a meeting in Dori, on Wednesday August 28, 2024, with a view to seeking endogenous solutions to the fatal and recurring traffic accidents in the city of Dori. On the night of August 27-28, 2024, the populations of the city of Dori were shocked by a serious traffic accident between two motorcycles, resulting in the instant death of three young people, including a girl. According to the provincial coordinator of the Séno citizen watch, Mr. Abdoulaye Maïga, it was this accident, the origin of which was the speeding of one of the drivers, which led them to organize this meeting with the representatives of the community. During their inter view, the participants made an uncompromising diagnosis of road traffic in the city of Dori. According to them, it is characterized by the incivility of some road users and the poor condition of the roads. As solutions, they proposed raising awareness among young people, but also among parents, for a much more responsible citizenship, the making and installation of speed bumps, the filling of cracks in the roads, the reinforcement of the teaching of the highway code through civic education, the surveillance in the neighborhoods of speeding offenders, as well as the application of financial penalties and even custodial sentences. The organizers plan to meet with administrative, customary and religious authorities with a view to a vast awareness campaign in local media, places of worship and during gatherings.
