Tangier - HM King Mohammed VI's Throne Day speech is a "crucial roadmap" for solving the water issue, said Houdaifa Mezzour, a member of the Moroccan Association for a Sustainable Environment. The Sovereign has emphasized the need for a balanced spatial distribution of national water resources, through the implementation of mechanisms capable of meeting the growing needs for drinking water and irrigation, added Mezzour. The High Royal Guidelines in the Throne Speech not only reinforce the foundations of sustainable development that Morocco is striving to implement, but also call for the preservation of the progress achieved in the economic, energy, agricultural, tourism and industrial fields, he noted. Morocco, under the far-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI, is determined to harness clean energies in the implementation of pioneering seawater desalination projects, with a view to preserving the environment and resolving the water scarcity issue, Mezzour added.
