Opuwo woman arrested for alleged murder of boyfriend

The police in the Kunene Region have arrested a 27-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death at Opuwo on Tuesday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in a crime report on Wednesday indicated that the incident occurred Opuwo’s Okapupona location at 21h00 when the suspect stabbed 35-year-old Muniazo Ueripuraije.

Ueripuraije was stabbed in the neck and died upon arrival at the hospital.

It is alleged that the suspect acted in self-defence as the deceased attempted to stab the suspect during a misunderstanding over cooking.

The suspect then beat the deceased on his hand and the knife fell, and she used it against the deceased, the police said.

The murder weapon was seized.

The body is kept at the Opuwo Police Mortuary for a post-mortem and the suspect is due to appear in the Opuwo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Investigations continue.
