Abuja: An 80-year-old community leader, Rev. Titus Ogundare, has donated N2 million worth of solar-powered streetlights to Funbi Fagun Community in Ondo Town, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State. Ogundare, who serves as the Chairman of Funbi Fagun Landlords Association, made the donation through his children as part of the celebration of his 80th birthday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the donation consists of 18 solar-powered streetlights and was presented during an event where Ogundare's son, Pastor Ayoola Ogundare, emphasized his father's dedication to community development. Pastor Ayoola highlighted the importance of individual and group contributions to complement government efforts in improving lives. He stated that the project, valued at N2 million, would enhance nighttime mobility for the community's residents.
Pa Ogundare, expressing gratitude for reaching the age of 80, reflected on his life's journey and attributed his longevity to divine grace. He recounted his tenure as CAN secretary for 10 years and his long-standing service as the secretary of Funbi Fagun Landlords Association for 22 years. Ogundare encouraged parents to invest in their children's upbringing, emphasizing that they represent the future of the family.
Community resident Kunle Johnson expressed appreciation for the solar-powered streetlights, noting their potential to improve security and curb criminal activities. The initiative is expected to ensure the safety and well-being of the community's residents.
