Rabat - House of Representatives Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami held talks, on Monday in Rabat, with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna. During the meeting, attended by Estonia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Morocco with residence in Lisbon, Moonika Kase, and Morocco's Ambassador to Finland and Estonia with residence in Helsinki, Mohamed Achgalou, the two parties hailed the strong ties of friendship between the two countries, the House of Representatives said in a press release. In addition, Talbi Alami and Tsahkna highlighted the particularities of Morocco and Estonia's parliamentary experiences and stressed the importance of bolstering the exchange of experiences in fields such as digitization, open government and cybersecurity, the same source underlined. On this occasion, the press release added, the Estonian Foreign Minister hailed the deep cultural and historical ties between the two countries, stating that Estonia considers the Autonomy Plan for the southern provinces, presente d by Morocco in 2007 to the UN Secretary General, as a serious and credible basis to settle the Moroccan Sahara issue. For his part, the Lower House Speaker expressed his gratitude to the head of Estonian diplomacy for his country's position on the Autonomy Plan proposed by Morocco. Talbi Alami took the opportunity to highlight the various aspects of the development momentum in the southern provinces, the democratic advances in the Kingdom as well as major projects undertaken under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Morocco, boasting a rich cultural diversity, is a pioneer in promoting peace and coexistence and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, the House of Representatives Speaker noted.
