Rabat - Moroccan security services on Saturday seized 72.2 kg of cocaine in two separate operations at the Tanger-Med port and the El Guergarat border post, south of Dakhla. The first operation at the El Guergarat border post uncovered 197 loaves of cocaine (a total of 55.95 kg), carefully concealed inside an international transportation truck from a sub-Saharan African country, according to a security source. The driver of the vehicle, aged 55, was arrested, the same source added. In a second operation at the Tanger-Med port, police and customs officers seized 14 loaves of cocaine (a total of 16.23 kg) concealed in a shipping container of goods from a Latin American country, the security source noted. Judicial police services opened a judicial investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office. The probe aims to uncover connections involved in the drug trafficking network, trace the smuggling routes and identify the final destinations, in coordination with the Interpol offices of the countries involved in the itinerary followed by these shipments.
