Rabat - Morocco's Royal Navy intercepted, Sunday 83 km northwest of the port of Tan-Tan, a makeshift pirogue carrying 54 sub-Saharan would-be migrants, including 7 women and a minor. The people rescued, who intended to reach the Canary Islands, were brought safely to the the port of Tan-Tan, then handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures after receiving the necessary care, according to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
