" The transformations brought about in the lives of agro-pastoralists thanks to the MODHEM+/DDC project contribute to the growth of the agro-pastoral sector which represents more than 35% of the gross domestic product and employs more than 80% of the active population" maintains Adama Boro. The project intervention area covers four (04) regions of Burkina Faso, namely the Cascades, Centre-West, Centre-South and South-West regions. The MODHEM+/DDC Coordinator, Kassoum Ouédraogo, gives a satisfactory assessment of the implementation of the project. For the pastoral economy, we have been able to build two livestock markets and set up two slaughterhouses. On animal health issues, we have been able to build two veterinary posts. There are also 80 household biodigesters and two semi-industrial biodigesters in two slaughterhouses," he notes. According to the Project Coordinator, 46 management committees have been set up to take charge of the management of these pastoral infrastructures. Discussions are underway with the financial partner, the SDC, for a second phase of the project. As a reminder, MODHEM+/DDC began on January 1, 2021 and is expected to continue until December 31, 2024 in its current phase. It aims to reach around 290,000 direct actors and more than 800,000 indirect actors spread across 20 municipalities in four intervention regions.
