Lagos: The Lagos State Government has commended the organisers of Eko Fiesta for creating a platform that will promote culture and empower entrepreneurs across the state. Mr. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, gave the commendation in a statement signed by the Media Co-ordinator of the fiesta, Mr. Afolayan Adebiyi, in Lagos.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the maiden edition of the fiesta, scheduled to hold from Dec. 22 to Dec. 24, is organised by Dosh and Wales Company in partnership with the Ministry. Aregbe noted that the initiative aligns with the mission of the ministry, which includes promoting tourism, creativity, and culture in ways that reflect the Lagos spirit. He emphasized that Eko Fiesta is structured to be impactful and in line with the ministry's values.
Aregbe highlighted the creative synergy of music, art, culture, and commerce in the event, stating that it tells a powerful Lagos story. He mentioned that beyond entertainment, the event creates economic opportunities for small businesses and artisans, providing them with access to new markets and strengthening the state's creative economy.
The promoters of Eko Fiesta, Mr. Damilare Osho and Dr. Wale Oyebanji, explained that the event is designed to fill a gap in the city's festive calendar by blending celebration with purpose. They noted that while Lagos in December is filled with concerts and parties, Eko Fiesta offers a space for music, art, and culture, while also promoting local brands and entrepreneurs.
