In implementation of High Royal Instructions, Govt. Head Chairs Meeting on 7th General Population-Housing Census

Rabat - In implementation of the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, contained in the Royal letter addressed to the Head of Government on June 20, Aziz Akhannouch chaired, here Monday, a meeting on the 7th general population and housing census, scheduled for late summer. During this meeting, attended by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, and High Commissioner for Planning Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, Akhannouch recalled the content of the Royal letter which outlined the main guidelines to ensure the success of this important operation, the Head of Government's Department said in a press release. In this regard, Akhannouch underlined that the government will spare no effort to provide the necessary resources to ensure the full success of this large-scale operation, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions, stressing the importance of the census results to devise the relevant public policies and to harmonize the various programs with the needs of citizens. Emphasizing the importance of mobilizing the necessary human and logistical resources, the Head of Government called on all administrations and public institutions and the decentralized services concerned to show their commitment and close coordination for the success of the 7th general population and housing census, a key tool to get a detailed understanding of the demographic and socio-economic evolution of the Kingdom and to devise relevant policies at national and local levels. The meeting was an opportunity to examine the various practical provisions relating to the organization of the census operation, in light of the High Instructions contained in the royal letter addressed to the Head of Government, aimed at ensuring an innovative operation thanks to its approach and the technological means that will be mobilized to collect and process information. This operation will also be ambitious by broadening the fields of investigation to new themes that are close to our hearts, notably the structuring societal project of social protec tion. The royal letter addressed to the Head of Government, last Thursday, had underlined the valuable contribution of the results of the next general census to 'achieve our societal project and to properly deploy our development model, built on the principles of political democracy, economic efficiency, human development and social and territorial cohesion'.
