Rapper Derrick Osei Kuffour Prempeh, known as Kofi Jamar, believes an artist's focus should not only be fixated on making hit songs. Kofi Jamar is certain that building a supportive fanbase should be the optimum goal for an artist, rather than the fuss over making just hit tracks. Known generally for his hit song "Ekorso," which features Yaw Tog and YPee, Kofi Jamar tells MzGee on Just Being Us that he is unperturbed by the pressure from fans who may be anxious to hear a bigger hit than "Ekorso." He claims, 'Before 'Ekorso,' I have been doing jams and gaining fans across the country. I know some people like Hiplife and Highlife, so I do their kind of genre to include them in my fanbase. Some people love hip-hop, so I do hip-hop; some people love rap, so I just rap for them. But before that, I was doing songs that people were liking, and I was building a huge fanbase,' Kofi opined. 'My song with Stonebwoy, my EP, my song with Medikal and S3fa were all helping me build a huge fanbase, so I believe in buildi ng the fanbase, building followers for your music-followers that love your music on the dot. I don't believe in making just hit songs; I believe in building a fanbase that will make each of your songs a hit,' Kofi confidently added. Though he is not obsessed with the idea of having a hit song after every track released, he is also not resting on his laurels as a musician. 'I am building the fanbase, and I am still levelling up. The next is going to be bigger than 'Ekorso,' it's going to take over the world as 'Ekorso' did.' Kofi Jamar is currently promoting a track titled "Wombom" featuring Kwesi Amewuga and Kofi Mole.
