Government committed to supporting tourism as a driver of positive change and pillar of growth

The government of Burkina Faso will continue its efforts in favor of the tourism sector which it considers as a 'driving force for positive change and economic growth,' according to the Minister in charge of Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, speaking on the occasion of the 45th World Tourism Day. "As far as the Government is concerned, I can reassure you that we continue to defend tourism as a driver of positive change and a pillar of economic growth in our country and will implement all necessary means to help restore confidence in foreign tourists and to effectively address all the challenges facing the sector," said the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo. "I would like to draw your attention to the undeniable evidence of tourism that can help us build a better future for all and build a peaceful and prosperous nation. Creator of income and jobs, the tourism sector, nationally and throughout the world, remains a powerful lever for economic dev elopment," added Minister Ouédraogo, who is also the government spokesperson. He also recalled that tourism is a factor of human rapprochement because it allows people from different ethnocultural and religious communities to meet, to know each other better and to develop bonds of brotherhood, to build peace and stability. The minister in charge of the tourism sector also stressed the importance of Burkina's cultural and tourist heritage, "rich and diverse", with its world-renowned sites, wide variety of fauna and flora as well as a modern hotel complex. The Burkinabe government, considering that insecurity has a negative impact on the tourist economy, reiterates its desire and that of the AES countries to tackle the problems of peace and security so that Burkina and the Sahel remain a competitive tourist destination.
