Abuja: The Federal Government has released the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) in the country's 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs). It also released the results of the separate entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, announced the results during a news conference in Abuja. She described the release as a significant step for basic education in Nigeria. The examination, which was conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on June 14, had a total of 64,578 registered candidates. Out of these, 61,290 candidates sat for the exam while 3,288 were absent.
Prof. Ahmad disclosed that out of a maximum score of 210, 13 candidates achieved the highest score of 202, while 27 candidates scored as low as one. She also highlighted that 52 candidates, including two from Lagos and 50 from Rivers, were involved in examination malpractice this year.
Regarding the FGA Suleja exam, 3,421 candidates registered, with 3,141 sitting for the exam and 280 absent. The highest score in this examination was 194, while the lowest was one. Prof. Ahmad confirmed that the admission criteria would continue to be 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states, and 10 per cent exigency.
The Minister instructed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure that all admissions are completed promptly and adhere to the guidelines. She emphasized that Federal Unity Colleges remain a preferred choice for many parents and assured that the government is committed to improving infrastructure, feeding, and teacher quality in these institutions.
