Eid Al Fitr: Royal Pardon for 2,097 People

Rabat - On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, HM King Mohammed VI granted His pardon to 2,097 people, sentenced by the different Moroccan courts, the Justice Ministry said in a statement. The detained beneficiaries of the royal pardon are 1,809 and are divided into: - 131 prisoners were pardoned from their remaining prison sentence. - 1,674 inmates had their prison terms reduced. - 1 inmate had his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment - 3 inmates had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison term. The beneficiaries of the royal pardon whom are on bail are 270 and are divided into: - 67 prisoners benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms. - 13 inmates benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained. - 179 inmates benefited from pardon over their fines. - 11 inmates benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines. Among the beneficiaries of the Royal pardon granted by HM King Mohammed VI on this glorious occasi on, there are 18 detainees who were sentenced in cases of extremism and terrorism. This Royal gesture took place after these prisoners had officially announced their rejection of all forms of extremism and terrorism, and voiced their firm attachment to the unwavering and sacred values of the Nation and national institutions. The beneficiaries of this royal initiative are divided into: - 10 inmates benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms. - 1 inmate benefited from pardon over his remaining prison term and fine. - 7 prisoners had their prison terms reduced.
