Former Everton striker, Yakubu Ayegbeni, has opposed claims that Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is the greatest African to play in the Premier League. According to Yakubu, Ivory Coast and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is the best African player in the Premier League. The former Nigerian international argued that, unlike Salah, Drogba was a goal machine. "You cannot say Salah is the greatest African to play in the Premier League. Drogba was something special because he was scoring for fun," he told Goal. Didier Drogba is a Premier League Hall of Famer. He was inducted in April 2022 for his exploits in the English top flight for over 11 years. Drogba has four Premier League titles to his name while winning two golden boots. He scored 104 goals in 254 Premier League games, providing 64 assists. The Ivorian's best season came in 2009/10, scoring 29 goals in 32 games. Meanwhile, Salah who is in his 11th PL season has scored 158 goals in 264 appearances, providing 70 assists in the process . Salah had his best season in 2017/2018, where he scored 32 goals in 36 games to win the Golden Boot. He has three Golden Boot awards. Source: Ghana Web
