Chinese Firms Train 150 Solar Panel Installers and Distributors in Lagos

Lagos: In a bid to increase access to clean energy, no fewer than 150 solar panel installers and distributors were trained in Lagos, empowering them to serve more homes and businesses.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the training, themed 'Unveiling a Future with Renewable Energy in Nigeria', was organised by C and D, a Chinese supply chain company, in partnership with Appsolarr and Sunness, Chinese solar energy companies. Speaking at the event, Mr. Luo Zhangbao, C and D Regional Manager, emphasised the need for collaboration to transform Nigeria's energy challenges into opportunities.

Mr. Zhangbao stated, "For us as a partner company, we want to train more Nigerian youth installers. We want them to know more skills. We also want people to know that the renewable energy space is not just about panels, inverters, and solar. We want them to know about the economic benefits it can bring."

He further explained the importance of creating more awareness about clean energy in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for the nation to not be left behind as the world transitions. The training aimed to provide sustainable and alternative power solutions, addressing one of the significant barriers to industrial growth in Nigeria, which is power inadequacy.

The event also provided an opportunity for solar energy companies to gain insights into the market dynamics and train individuals accordingly. C and D have established a network that connects over 170 countries and regions, specializing in global resource integration for photovoltaics and energy storage.

Highlighting the contributions of partner companies, Zhangbao mentioned Appsolarr's role in addressing Nigeria's power shortages through its off-grid inverter technology, designed to handle local climatic challenges. Sunness, another partner, offers energy storage solutions tailored to the Nigerian market, complementing Appsolarr's inverters and aiding in reducing dependence on costly diesel generators.

Mr. Stephen Ajiboye, a facilitator, emphasized the importance of staying updated with the latest features and technologies in the increasingly saturated solar market in Nigeria. He pointed out that the unique selling points would help installers stand out amidst a growing influx of solar products.

Participant Mrs. Ifeoma Nwafor of Dinnis Investment Ltd. praised the event, noting that the training would help boost competitiveness in the market. The event also featured product unveils, interaction with full product lineups, including new inverters and compatible battery storage systems, and a lucky draw.
