The association "Générations solidaires" (AGS) officially launched, on Saturday, its action campaign for the elderly (CAPA) for the year 2024, aimed at promoting physical activities and leisure for the benefit of the elderly. "Our association is once again organizing this year its traditional action campaign for the elderly, which is taking place in a difficult context of combating insecurity," said the president of the association "Générations solidaires" (AGS), retired colonel-major Daouda Traoré. According to him, the launch of the Action Campaign for the Elderly (CAPA) 2024 aims to promote physical activities and leisure among the elderly for their well-being. Colonel-Major Traoré, who spoke on Saturday at the National Museum of Ouagadougou, said that the AGS will take advantage of the meeting to plant trees symbolizing longevity and resilience, such as the néré, the caïcédrat, the baobab and the rônier, in the courtyard of the cultural temple. According to him, various activities, such as a guided to ur of the museum premises and performances by artists, will enrich the 2024 edition of CAPA. "On Thursday, September 19, 2024, we will launch a major campaign to promote physical activities and leisure for the elderly, and on October 12, medical visits will be organized for the benefit of seniors who do not benefit from them," he said. Believing that every young person is an old person of tomorrow, Colonel-Major Traoré reminded everyone of the need to contribute to the development of senior citizens, who embody the values ??of patriotism, solidarity and forgiveness. The representative of the Minister of State for Culture, Dr Dramane Konaté, said he was satisfied with the AGS initiative, which promotes the elderly, these living treasures. "We find ourselves with retired seniors, elderly people of all categories, women and men who have given the best of themselves within their families and on construction sites, for the dignity and development of our country," he added. Mr. Konaté, also technical advisor t o the Minister of Culture, stressed that the objective of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is to put the deans in good conditions so that they participate in the development of Burkina. According to him, this commitment by the President of Faso materialized during his meeting on October 3, 2023 with the elders.
