Belongings worth thousands stolen in Windhoek robberies

A number of robberies were reported in Windhoek over the weekend, with belongings worth thousands of Namibian dollars stolen in various locations.

The Namibian Police Force in its weekend crime report said a couple was robbed of property valued at N.dollars 300 000 in Otjomuise Extension Four on Saturday.

The incident occurred just after midnight and the five unknown men assaulted the couple and fled with their Polo Vivo with registration N180825W, an iPhone 11, and an HP laptop, all valued at a total N.dollars 300 000.

No recovery has been made yet and police investigations continue.

In Ludwigsdorf, also on Saturday, a complainant and his mother were allegedly robbed of their belongings worth N.dollars 93 500 after men broke into their house around 02h30.

According to the police they gained entry from a riverbed and cut through the residence’s fence and the burglar bars on an open window. They allegedly threatened the complainant and his mother with pangas before tying them up and stealing a laptop, hard drive, a Samsung cellphone, one gold wedding band, a Samsung smart TV, wrist watches and various other belongings worth a total of N.dollars 93 500.

No recovery or arrest has been made and police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a man was robbed of his Mazda Demio, cellphone and cash in the Golgota 13 location around 19h50 on Saturday. He was reportedly held at gun-point and robbed of belongings worth N.dollars 68 690. No arrests have been made and none of the stolen items recovered.

The police also reported a break-in at Donkerhoek around 18h30 on Saturday.

Personal belongings including clothes and sneakers worth N.dollars 5 500 were stolen and no arrests have been made.
