NEDC to Rehabilitate 300 Households Displaced by Windstorm in Taraba

Garba Chede: The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has announced plans to rehabilitate over 300 households displaced by a recent windstorm in the Garba Chede Community of Bali Local Government Area, Taraba. This announcement was made by Hajia Batulu Isa, Deputy Director of Relief and Mediation for the commission, following an assessment visit to the affected area by NEDC officials.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Isa assured the victims that the commission is committed to swiftly bringing relief to those affected by the windstorm. The delegation from NEDC has collected data and will be reporting back to the commission to facilitate necessary actions. These actions are expected to include support in the form of food, non-food items, and building materials.

Isa stated, "We have been delegated by the NEDC to visit this community and assess the level of damage caused by the windstorm. We have taken our data already, and we shall report back to the commission for onward action. I want to assure you that the commission will respond as quickly as possible by providing food items, non-food items, and building materials to the victims."

The leadership of the NEDC, led by Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, the Managing Director and CEO, is reportedly very concerned about the situation. Mr. Hashimu Abdulkadir, a traditional leader in the affected community, reported that the windstorm resulted in six fatalities and left 30 others injured. He expressed gratitude for the NEDC's prompt response and urged other organizations and individuals, including the Taraba Government and local politicians, to offer additional support.
