Rabat - Journalist Belaid Bouimid passed away on Tuesday morning in Casablanca after a prolonged illness, his family announced. Born in 1951 in El Jadida, Bouimid was one of the pioneers of sports journalism in Morocco, leaving his mark on the field. His career in journalism began in 1975 upon his return from France and worked as a professional journalist and caricaturist for the French-language newspaper 'Al Bayane' and the Arabic-language daily 'Bayane Al Yaoume'. The deceased had also made a career as a sports analyst for multiple television and radio stations. For several years, he was elected Secretary General of the Moroccan Sports Press Association and President of the African Sports Press Union in 2005 and 2009. The late Bouimid will be laid to rest on Tuesday after the Dhuhr prayer at the Arrahma cemetery in Casablanca. Source: Agence Marocaine De Presse
