RUNDU: A man who stands accused of killing his ex-girlfriend at the Kehemu residential area in Rundu last week Thursday, was denied bail when he made his first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday. Soares Ngonga Siwombe, 28, appeared before Magistrate Sonia Samupofu, who postponed the case to 27 August 2024. Prosecutor Hilia Munzenze opposed bail due to the severity of the case and that it is not in the interest of the public. According to the Namibian Police Force's Acting Regional Commander in the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu, Siwombe stabbed his 21-year-old ex-girlfriend Theresia Siwombe multiple times with a knife, causing her death. Nambahu said the two had an argument over a text message on the deceased's phone, which the suspect took from the victim the night of her death. Police investigations continue.
