Mirova Gigaton Fund has made its first investment in South Africa with a $15 million loan to SolarAfrica. The investment is intended to support the company's commercial and industrial projects and accelerate the growth of its large-scale renewable energy initiatives. Founded in 2011, SolarAfrica offers innovative solutions to reduce electricity costs and improve the carbon footprint of businesses in Africa. In 2023, it merged with Starsight Energy, strengthening its presence in Africa. With the support of the Mirova Gigaton fund, it continues to accelerate the energy transition in emerging markets.
