Over 2 000 runners expected to compete in Nedbank CitiDash

The third edition of the Nedbank CitiDash is expected to attract over 2 000 runners when it takes place in Windhoek on Sunday.

The Nedbank CitiDash is a sporting event that sees elite long-distance runners as well as friends and families competing in five kilometre (km) and 10km runs.

In a statement availed to Nampa on Thursday, Nedbank Namibia Communication and Public Relations Manager, Selma Kaulinge said the excitement from the runners is immense.

“It’s officially Nedbank CitiDash season and all we have been hearing from runners since the launch is ‘When can we run? Will there be a viking chant again this year? Can I register my family?’ The support has been incredible from the get-go and preparations for this race would not have been possible without the support of our organisers and sponsors for this race,” she said.

Kaulinge added that as a company which lives the purpose of being money experts, they are proud to host this event not only because it promotes a healthy lifestyle, but because running symbolises endurance, perseverance, and grit, which are elements that Nedbank Namibia resonate with as they celebrate their 50th anniversary of operations in Namibia.

The Nedbank CitiDash races will start at 07h30 on Sunday with the 10km elite men and women runners, as well as the Under-18 men and women, wheelchair, and visually impaired category.

The second race, which is the 5km and 10km fun run and walk, will start at 08h30.

All races will start and finish at Zoo Park in Independence Avenue, opposite the new Nedbank Campus.

Registration and race-number collection will take place between 11h00 and 15h00 on Saturday at the Nedbank Campus, which is situated at the corner of Fidel Castro and Rev. Michael Scott Street. All runners who entered the race are expected to collect their numbers to participate in the race on Sunday.
