Four security companies hired for OATF

The Ongwediva Trade Fair preparatory committee has acquired the services of four security companies to provide safety and security during this year’s annual event.

The trade fair is scheduled for 25 August to 02 September.

Town council spokesperson Jackson Muma indicated that the four local companies are Namibia Protection Services, Shikuvule Trading Service, Nebby Security Services and Triple One Investment.

“We have a total of 160 security guards who have been hired, with 80 guards expected to be on duty per shift,” he said.

According to Muma, the guards will be deployed at the trade fair centre for the duration of the event.

Oshana Namibian Police Force Deputy Commissioner Nico Steenkamp indicated that the police are also ready to provide the needed assistance to all visitors during the trade fair.

“As usual additional members will be taken from administrative offices to supplement the operational groups,” he said, noting that they will also prioritise operational duties with the minimum resources at their disposal.

This year’s trade fair will host over 450 local and international exhibitors from diverse sectors of the economy, as well as from countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria.
