Pretoria - The Moroccan men's U-18 basketball team on Thursday secured a spot in FIBA U18 AfroBasket 2024 semi finals, held in Pretoria, South Africa, after defeating Angola in the quarter-finals (61-45). This marks Morocco's first time at this advanced stage of the competition. From the outset, the Moroccan players showed great determination to overcome a tough Angolan team, considered one of the best in Africa, widening the gap as the game went on to secure a spot at the of Afrobasket-2024 semi-finals. The national team tackled the game in good spirits after beating hosts South Africa in the quarter-final. In their opening Group C match, the Five Nationals bested Zambia 84-67 before losing to Rwanda 55-51. Other games of quarter-finals include Egypt vs Senegal, Rwanda vs Cameroon and Mali vs Nigeria. The tournament brings together 12 countries divided into three groups. The top two in each group, as well as the two best third-placed teams advanced to the quarter-finals.
