Exemption from local product taxes and suspension of shea exports discussed in newspapers

Burkinabe dailies this Friday echo the suspension of the export of shea almonds and the government's decision to exempt certain local products from taxes. The newspaper reports that in the council of ministers of Thursday, September 19, 2024, the State decided to support the industrialization of the country by granting a tax exemption for the production of wheat flour, corn, sorghum, and other cereals produced locally. The newspaper also indicates that at this weekly meeting of ministers, the authorities adopted, under the Ministry of Justice, a preliminary draft la w on the administration of community service. According to the Minister of Justice, with this new law, the sentence of community service will be imposed instead of imprisonment, to resolve, among other things, the issue of overcrowding in prisons, the daily reported.
