The 40-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her husband at Grootfontein on Tuesday has been identified by relatives as Lizelda Xoagus. 'She was employed as a radiographer at the Grootfontein State Hospital,' said the Namibian Police Force's Commander for Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha. The woman was reported to have died from multiple stab wounds which were allegedly inflicted by her 48-year-old husband with a kitchen knife. The incident allegedly occurred around 23h00 on Tuesday at Extension 5, where the couple lived, Mbeha said. Her husband allegedly also poured acid on her body before he then attempted suicide by drinking some of the acid. When the police arrived at the couple's residence, the man was still fighting for his life and he was transported to the Grootfontein State Hospital. He was then transferred to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital under police guard. According to Mbeha, by Wednesday morning, the suspect was reported to be in crit ical condition at the Katutura Intermediate Hospital. Police investigations into the matter continue.
