Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem of Tambela, Sino-Burkinabe businessmen discussed on Friday a win-win partnership for the benefit of both Nations. Sino-Burkinabe businessmen met with the aim of laying the foundations for a lasting economic partnership between Burkina Faso and the People's Republic of China on Friday, September 20, 2024. "With Chinese partners, we are developing plans together and building together. It is not like the others, who want to define our development for us," said Burkinabe Prime Minister Dr Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla. Stressing the importance of mutual respect in this bilateral cooperation, the head of government recalled the urgent needs in infrastructure, in particular the construction of roads, airports and railways, while drawing attention to the opportunities for agro-industrial transformation. For him, the objective is to write the history of Burkina and its development with the inspiring strategy of Chinese partners. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, highlighted the country's recent economic improvements, with growth of 1.6% in 2022 to 3.6% in 2023, and optimistic projections of 5.5% for 2024. According to Dr Nacanabo, 'Burkina Faso, in its new vision, is more than ever fertile ground for investments.' According to him, despite security challenges, Burkina Faso remains "open for business" with a young, dynamic workforce and abundant natural resources. He encouraged Chinese investors to explore priority sectors such as new technologies, innovation and the sustainable development industry. This forum marks a decisive turning point in Sino-Burkinabe economic relations, paving the way for a strategic partnership and sustainable investments in sectors that will benefit both local development and bilateral cooperation.
