President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has launched the highly anticipated Accra-Tema Motorway extension project. The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on Monday, 26 August 2024, marks the official start of this major infrastructure initiative. In his address, President Akufo-Addo commended the motorway for its longstanding role in Ghana's progress since its commissioning by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1965. He stressed the importance of modernizing the motorway to meet the evolving needs of Ghana's growing population and future generations. The extension project, backed by a Public-Private Partnership, stands as a testament to Ghana's dedication to infrastructure innovation and leadership. Minister for Roads and Highways Francis Asenso-Boakye outlined the project's phases and sections, while Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titu s Glover encouraged contractors to involve local youth in the project.
