The municipal coordination of citizen monitoring associations in the municipality of Garango has donated the sum of 425,000 FCFA intended for the purchase of surveillance drones to support efforts to reconquer the territory. The ceremony of handing over the envelope to the mission manager of the President of Faso for the Center-East region, Adaman Kamboné, took place on Tuesday August 20, 2024 in the presence of Timothée Zombré, president of the special Garango delegation. The fundraising initiative, launched on June 5, 2024, aimed to support the national armed forces and their auxiliaries in the fight against terrorism. Faced with the enthusiasm of the populations and the pressing need to strengthen monitoring resources, the collection campaign, initially planned until August 10, was extended until August 31, 2024. According to Timothée Zombré, president of the special delegation of the municipality of Garango, this citizen action is an example to follow for all municipalities in the region. He encoura ged lagging localities to become more involved by mobilizing contributions, however modest, in order to strengthen the effectiveness of security operations.
