The President of the Republic receives the winning team in the national football championship and the athletes who will represent Chad in the Islamic Solidarity Games.

The Chadian sports arena has begun to reap the fruits of the declaration of the President of the Transitional Military Council, the President of the Republic, Head of State, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, in 2022 as the Year of Sports. This is through the revival of football through the organization of the national football championship, which was crowned by Alek Aspor club recently, and the return of the participation of Chadian athletes in international sports forums by preparing for the participation of Chadian athletes in the Islamic Solidarity Games that will be held in Turkey.

The President of the Republic received this morning, at the Presidential Palace, Aleix Aspor Club, crowned in the national football championship, as well as Chadian athletes participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games.

The event took place in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the President of the Chadian Olympic Sports Committee, the President of Alec Espor Club, and some of the President’s aides.

This sporting occasion reflects the positive results of the year of sport and the achievement that has been achieved in just a few months.

Where the president of Alekspor club, accompanied by the captain of the team, presented the club shirt and the championship cup to the President of the Republic, who, without his interest in developing the sport, would not have achieved this achievement.

The President of the Republic praised this beautiful gesture, congratulating the club on this achievement, stressing that everyone won the bet.

The President of the Chadian Olympic Sports Committee, Idriss Dekouni Adkir, also gave a speech on this occasion, in which he praised the efforts of the President of the Transitional Military Council in reviving sporting events and stimulating Chadian sports, athletes and the masses, noting that sport is a means to achieve peace, unity and reconciliation.

He stressed that the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be a starting point for Chadian athletes to return to participate in international competitions. Adding that this is the first time that Chad has participated in such a large number of eighty-six athletes representing eight national federations.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahmoud Ali Said, also spoke, who thanked the President of the Republic for his efforts in promoting Chadian sport in general and restoring its old glory. He stressed that the declaration of 2022 as the year of sport revived hope after the apathy and decline witnessed by sport in Chad in general in recent times.

In his speech, the President of the Republic, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Idriss Deby Itno, said that the National Football Championship constituted a starting point for the reorganization and activation of sports, and that the results of the tournament encourage the trend towards establishing appropriate frameworks to revive national competitions, adding that there is extensive planning to lay the foundations for sustainable development of sports and prepare and adopt a policy National sports to ensure the integrated development of the sports sector.

Then the President of the Republic handed over the country’s flag to the Minister of Youth and Sports, saying that the Chadians are waiting for victory from the athletes, reassuring that he personally and the Chadian people will accompany the Chadian athletes’ ambassadors to the end.

The fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be launched from the ninth to the eighteenth of August in Konya, Turkey, with the participation of fifty-four Islamic countries. Chad will participate in athletes in the fields of athletics, weightlifting, judo, karate, wrestling, taekwondo, shooting and women’s basketball.

During this period, the attention of the Chadians will turn to Konya, where the ambassadors of Chad will participate in this international competition, and their hopes are pinned on them to return to the coronation and win medals.
